WHY A BENT SHAFT?

Screen Shot 2020-03-20 at 5.33.28 PM.png

Simply put, a bent shaft is more efficient and less tiring. Because the blade is vertical in the water for more of the stroke, you are not lifting water, so you are getting more forward propulsion for the energy expended. The power phase of the stroke is next to your body instead of out in front of you.  The stroke is more "pushing down" than "pulling back" so there is less stress on shoulders, upper back and arms.
